England and Bayern Muenchen midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, vote by fans as England Player of the Year 2006, the Football Association (FA) said on Tuesday. Hargreaves received 29 percent of the vote, beating fellow midfielder Steven Gerrard (18) and striker Peter Crouch (15).
Hargreaves is the England Canadian-born midfielder was outstanding in England’s World Cup quarter-final against Portugal, lost on penalties, and has since become a transfer target for Manchester United. Commenting on his award, Hargreaves told the FA’s Web site: “Any time you can receive the support of the fans is very special so thank you to everyone who voted for me.
“I’m hoping that 2007 will also be a really good year too. I’m very nearly ready to start playing again and hopefully I’ll be back playing for England again soon and I’ve got my eye on the big (Euro 2008) qualifiers in March.”

Arsenal 19 year old midfielder Alexandre Song Billong reported to join Charlton on loan until the end of this season. Song, the young Cameroon midfielder, already played twice in the Premiership this season and starred in Arsenal’s recent 6-3 Carling Cup win against Liverpool, when he also scored his first goal for the Gunners.
Song, the nephew of former Cameroon soccer star, Rigobert Song, joined Arsenal from French club SC Bastia in July 2005, initially on loan.
Arsenal subsequently made the transfer permanent - and manager Arsene Wenger recently indicated that he would be prepared to loan out the player to aid in his development.

Portugal and Barcelona midfielder Deco said that if Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo will move next season he should choose Barcelona as his next club. “He shouldn’t go to Real Madrid, he should come to Barca!” Deco said.
Deco also said that he known very well his Portugal teammate characters. “Barcelona is the best team for Cristiano if he wants to be the best player in the world”.

The Oscar- nominated actress Helen Mirren said that the news Los Angeles Galaxy player David Beckham could be a Holywood Movie Star.
“If he had a role where he didn’t have a big, long speech, maybe a silent role, I think he’d be wonderful in that.” Helen Said.
Beckham’s move to the Los Angeles Galaxy in a £128m deal has prompted speculation that he will make a move into showbiz.
