Arsenal Ladies became the first British club to win the trophies. “It’s the greatest moment in our history,” said the Arsenal women manager, Vic Akers. This trophies also completed their 20th anniversary.
Umea went into the tournament as favorites. The club is Europe’s only full-time professional team, but part-timers Arsenal managed to hold them at bay. The London club won a 1-0 victory last Saturday in the first leg of the final.
