Bernd Schuster, The New Real Madrid Coach
Spanish Primera Liga club Real Madrid announced that Getafe’s German coach Bernd Schuster would be the new coach of Real Madrid for next season after signed a pre-contract that states he will take over from 1 July 2007. Bernd Schuster will replace current Real Madrid coach Fabio Capello. Schuster’s also confirmed the details of the pre-contract agreement to Deutsche Presse-Agentur said If Real decide not to appoint Schuster as Fabio Capello’s successor the former German international will receive €1m. otherwise, if Schuster decides not to rejoin the club where he spent some of his most glorious years as a player he will have to shell out €1m.
Schuster was the premier footballer for FC Barcelona during the 80s, leading the game from midfield and scoring many goals. The team bought other stars like Diego Maradona, Allan Simonsen and Gary Lineker, but only Bernd, genial and controversial at the same time, was a profitable player for the club. Wonderful games and terrible opinions, the footballer was one the best in his position in the football history , the man never knew what diplomacy means. Former Barcelona president Jose Luis Nunez and some trainers on that time like Helenio Herrera, Udo Lattek, Terry Venables and Luis Aragones had difficult relations with him.
Bernd Schuster move to Real Madrid in 1988 and becomes a national scandal in Spain due to the very strong rivalry between Barcelona and Madrid.
