England and Bayern Muenchen midfielder, Owen Hargreaves, vote by fans as England Player of the Year 2006, the Football Association (FA) said on Tuesday. Hargreaves received 29 percent of the vote, beating fellow midfielder Steven Gerrard (18) and striker Peter Crouch (15).
Hargreaves is the England Canadian-born midfielder was outstanding in England’s World Cup quarter-final against Portugal, lost on penalties, and has since become a transfer target for Manchester United. Commenting on his award, Hargreaves told the FA’s Web site: “Any time you can receive the support of the fans is very special so thank you to everyone who voted for me.
“I’m hoping that 2007 will also be a really good year too. I’m very nearly ready to start playing again and hopefully I’ll be back playing for England again soon and I’ve got my eye on the big (Euro 2008) qualifiers in March.”

Giant English Premiership club Manchester United reported to make a new £20 million offer to Bayern Munchen Midfielder Owen Hargreaves.
Owen told to the press “It has been made official today that Manchester United have made their offer for me,” he said. “For a club like Manchester United to make an offer is something I appreciate. They have developed into such a talented team. They have a great nucleus in Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney, while Cristiano Ronaldo is probably one of the best players in Europe at the moment.”
However Man Utd offer it seem get no good signal from Munchen side. The Bayern chairman, Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, has made it plain that they not consider parting with Hargreaves, who is under contract until 2010, in the transfer window, saying yesterday that any business was “out of the question” until the summer. Especially when they have already lost one midfielder in Sebastian Deisler, who this week announced his retirement due to a persistent knee injury. Michael Ballack went acrimoniously last year.

Sebastian Deisler, Bayern Munich and Germany midfielder, announced his retirement from football at the age of 27 at a news conference held by Bayern because of a persistent knee injury.
“I no longer have any real faith in my knee,” the player said. “In the long run it’s been an ordeal. I can no longer play with the right level of enjoyment and I don’t do anything by halves”.
Deisler was once widely seen as being the next great German player but fitness and psychological problems meant he was unable to fulfil his promise.

After made nearly 300 Bundesliga appearances for Hamburg and Bayern. Bayern Munich midfielder Hasan Salihamidzic will move to Italian side Juventus on a free transfer four year deal at the end of the season.
“The entire package is right, I’m going to Juventus in the summer. It’s been a great time in Munich” said the Bosnian, who joined Bayern in 1998 from Bundesliga rivals SV Hamburg. “I can go abroad once again at 30 and experience something totally new.”
Salihamidzic will leave Bayern with an enviable set of medals. During his time at the club he has helped them win the Bundesliga title six times, the German Cup four times and the Champions League once, in 2001.
