Brazilian playmaker Marcelinho back to Germany and signed a contract to 2009 with Bundesliga club VfL Wolfsburg from Turkish first division team Trabzonspor. The transfer fee at 2.75 million euros ($3.56 million).

“This is a fantastic day, I really wanted to get back in the Bundesliga,” Marcelinho told a press conference.

Marcelinho, 31, played 155 Bundesliga matches for Hertha Berlin from 2001 to 2006, scoring 65 goals before Hertha sold him for 2.5 million euros in July. He earned five caps for Brazil earlier in his career.

Borussia Dortmund were also interested in Marcelinho, who was at times Hertha’s most important player. But he also had a reputation as an erratic player with off-pitch problems, repeatedly returning late from holidays. Wolfsburg known well about their new player problem, so Wolfsburg have set conditions on the Brazilian’s contract including that he find a home within 35-km of his new team’s home.
