Urawa Reds Defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka Awarded Japan’s Player of the Year for 2006.

Urawa Reds defender Marcus Tulio Tanaka has been awarded as Japan’s Player of the Year for 2006. The 25 year-old Tanaka who The Brazilian-born awarded as his majestic performances at the back helped Urawa to their first ever J-League triumph, he also contributed an impressive seven goals. Tanaka becomes the first Urawa player to receive this award and the third defender to receive the award.
“I think this award is more difficult for a defender to win than a forward,” Tulio said after receining the award in Yokohama.

There were times when people would get angry at me, and other times I was angry at them. But all in all, I think it was a fulfilling year, with the national team and with the club.
