United 2-0 in the SuperLiga semi-finals august 17. “The free kick was the first I’ve taken for eight weeks, so it was quite pleasing,” Beckham said. “I felt I was going to score as soon as I had the ball in my hands.”
Beckham scored the goal in the 27th minute. Beckam also sent a first assist to Landon Donovan, who scored on a breakaway in the 47th minute for a 2-0 lead. LA Galaxy advanced to the Aug. 29 tournament final in Carson against Mexican club team Pachuca, who drew 2-2 with Houston, but won 4-3 on penalty kicks.
The winning team earns US$1 million, which the Galaxy could put toward paying Beckham’s US$6.5 million yearly salary. Beckham also earned his first yellow card after fouling United’s Jaime Moreno in the 18th minute.

David Beckham is not play for US Major League Soccer yet, but LA Galaxy manager Alexi Lalas already open the door for loaning David Beckham back to a European club at the end of the Major League Soccer season. “We would always consider any possibility that would either make the player better as a soccer player and a more valuable asset, or playing with another team on loan if we felt it made proper business sense.” said Lalas to Sky Sports.
English Premiership club Newcastle United reportedly interested to loan Beckham in November when the MLS season closes down.
However LA Galaxy coach Frank Yallop seems not agree with management decision to loan Beckham. “It is a long season and a long pre-season. Players need that break. They will need to take a rest and I do not see any loan deal with David going anywhere” Yallop said.

Chelsea and Ukrainian soccerstar Andriy Shevchenko show his interest to move to US Major League Soccer. “I’d like to play there, actually”, Shevchenko said “Soccer is growing in the US and I’d like to be a part of that. I played there last summer against the MLS All-Stars and I saw myself that it’s definitely improving.” Shevchenko revealed he would be interested in a move to Major League Soccer before hanging up his boots.
If Shevchenko decided to move to US MLS he will join other European soccerstar such as English soccerstar David Beckham who will move to US Major League club LA Galaxy.
Shevchenko struggling to find his best form this season on Premiership after transfer from AC Milan. Shevchenko believes he failed to deliver in front of goal because Jose Mourinho did not play him as an out-and-out striker. “I didn’t play in my position this year, I was playing further behind, away from goal, which is different from how I played at Milan and maybe that’s why Didier Drogba scored so many goals this year.” Shevchenko said.
