Manchester United soccerstar awarded Order Of The British Empire (OBE) for his dedication and services to sport. This medal made Giggs as the most decorated star with 23 gongs now. OBE (Officer of The British Empire) is a British order of chivalry.
West Ham United soccerstar Teddy Sheringham, 41, also received an MBE for services to sport, while outgoing FA chairman Geoff Thompson got an OBE.

Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) presented a special gold medal for former Brazilian soccerstar Romario, 41 year-old, who reached the 1,000 goal on his soccer career. This medal is exactly same with the one that CBF awarded to Pelé in 1969. “The Federation is honoured to be able to pay homage to a player of such importance as Romário, a player of vital importance in the history of Brazilian football” said CBF President Teixeira. Besides medal, Romario also will receive a special seleção jersey with the number 1,000 stamped on the back.
Romário scored his 1000th goal, playing for Vasco da Gama, he scored a penalty kick against Sport Recife claiming he is the second player of the story of the professional football to achieve this, a mark supposedly before only obtained by the attacker Pelé in 1969.

Panagiotis Pontikos 27-year-old, the striker of Olympos Xylofagou, Cypriot third division club, have been awarded as the highest scorer in one soccer game after scored 16 goals against SEK Ayios Athanasios FC, goals were timed at 3, 20, 33, 35, 47, 50, 55, 56, 58, 61, 68, 75, 76, 83, 86 and 87 minutes. Olympos Xylofagou beat SEK Ayios Athanasios FC 24-3 in final results. Pontikos then added to Guiness Book Of Record as the highest scorer in one game.
“I cannot remember a result like that in all the years I have been involved with football,” said a Cyprus Football Association official. “The same goes for the amount of goals scored by the player.”
