Manchester United To Sign Blackburn Midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen

English Premiership club Manchester United reported their interest to sign Norwegian and Blackburn Rovers midfielder Morten Gamst Pedersen. Daily Mirror said that Man Utd are ready to bid up to £8 million to transfer Pedersen from their rival Blackburn Rovers. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson reported to prepare Morten Gamst Pedersen as a long-term successor of Ryan Giggs, who is now 33.
Regarding that news Blackburn Rovers manager Mark Hughes said to Sky Sports “There’s always talk about my players, but the situation with Morten is, basically, that he signed a new contract and was very happy to do so. He’s made that commitment, we’ve made a commitment to Morten, and both parties are happy with that decision.”
Gamst Pedersen, made his FA Premier League debut in a 1-1 draw against Manchester United on August 28, 2004, a match Blackburn were leading until deep into injury time. The highlight of Gamst Pedersen career came in September 2005 when he scored both goals in a 2-1 victory against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
This season, Pedersen was seemingly struggling for form and failed to live up to his performances the previous year. However, since the turn of the year, he has once again proved himself to be one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premiership. He has already scored six goals in all competitions in 2007, including two bullet headers and three direct free-kicks, the latter of which was a 92nd minute winner against Sheffield United on 3 February 2007.
